Have you ever asked yourself or wondered about when dragons first made a mark in the worlds human history?
Wandering pages of a multi plex of different dragon lore, as I do on occasion, I decided on a quest to find the very first time dragons made a mark on human society. When were dragons first discovered and documented? I found something to share to let your minds wander on~
From Ancient Indian sources the Rig Veda is one of the oldest texts in the history of our world, and in its texts it speaks of a great dragon named Vritra. Vritra (Vritra is translated to mean "enveloper" or "Coverer" ) was a serpent dragon who held the earths waters captive and was slain by the primary deity god named Indra in order to release the waters back on to the earth and to give back life. This text from the Rig Veda dates all the way back to 1500BCE.
I am sure there are many versions of this battle between Indra and Vritra to read on, and you will have to decide for yourself which you like best, after all it is one of the oldest stories in history~ Pretty Interesting right? Could Vritra be the very first elemental water dragon?
